Outreach

We believe that outreach is at the core of Jesus' message to love our neighbor. We want to highlight a few outreach opportunities.

Backpack Project

​Our Backpack program helps provide food for children at one of the local schools for the weekend. We are gradually expanding it to our community. We are collecting specific food items at certain times throughout the year. Some volunteers help with the refilling of the backpacks and some with drop-off.

Self Help Closet & Food Pantry

​We are proud of the fact that the Des Plaines Self-Help Closet and Food Pantry originated in the basement of our church in 1971 and since has become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We continue to support it on an ongoing basis with food donations and fundraisers.

Project Survivor

​​Supporting Exodus World Service, we welcome refugees to the United States in supplying basic household packages through our “Project Survivor” program and we also support their annual "Celebration of Hope" fundraising event.​

Night Ministries

The Night Ministry is a Chicago-based organization that works to offer housing, health care and human connection to members of the Chicago community struggling with poverty or homelessness.  We fill Christmas stockings with personal hygiene items for the Night Ministry every year.

Relay for Life

We have a strong commitment with the American Cancer Association and their fight against cancer. A team of dedicated volunteers and survivors participate in Relay-for-Life every year.

Annual Mission Trips

​We have an active group of adult volunteers who either participates in disaster relief efforts across the country like hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, etc. as well as work weeks to help maintain our outdoor campground.
